Help Us Honor and Remember the Jericho Air Base Station by creating a Commemorative Monument.
The Commemorative Monument will recognize the efforts and contributions made by the personnel from all 3 Armed Services.
An educational-style monument will be constructed in Jericho Park, Vancouver. It will provide a replacement for the Wallace Memorial Cairn and Plaque, which was demolished when the military vacated the Jericho Beach property, and recognize the dedication of the Wallace sports field in 1944. It will also record the significant role of the military personnel who served at both the Jericho Beach Flying Boat Station and North Jericho in the development of B.C. and in pioneering the advancement of aviation and other military operational functions throughout the remote areas of the province and to recognize the distinctive nature of the station as the first Royal Canadian Air Force air base in B.C. and remained as a major military base until 1971.
