INTRODUCTION
The Royal Canadian Legion established a “Support the Troops Morale Fund” that provides deployed Military personnel in Afghanistan, a certificate for a Tim Horton’s coffee and doughnut. The Canadian Forces Personnel Support Agency (CFPSA) operates the Tim Horton’s franchise in Afghanistan and works in partnership with the Legion in organizing this initiative. Legion Branches and Ladies Auxiliaries raise funds and encourage donations through various events and activities. Proceeds from these fundraising activities are accumulated in the Fund. When there is a sufficient level of contributions, a gift certificate is issued to the Canadian Troops through the CFPSA. The certificate is presented on behalf of The Royal Canadian Legion and its supporters.
Since inception, 208,000 certificates have been issued with another 12,000 on order for a total of $444,870 and in 2009 BC/ Yukon contributed $6100.
