Legion Foundation

BACKGROUND

BC/Yukon Command of The Royal Canadian Legion is the only Command which has incorporated a “Legion Foundation” to advance their extensive community charitable work.

The Legion Foundation was incorporated July, 4 1997 under the Canada Corporation Act and registered as a charitable organization.  This allows the Legion Foundation to accept charitable donations, issue receipts for income tax purposes and provides donors with more flexible options to support the Legion’s work in the community.

The Legion Foundation is supported through:
•    personal and corporate donations;
•    gifts and annuities;
•    bequests; and
•    donations in honour of veterans and members of the Canadian Forces.

 CHARITABLE WORK IN THE COMMUNITY
The Legion Foundation in turn donates funds to support:
•    special medical equipment;
•    social and health related services for veterans and seniors;
•    equipment and facilities including support for low rental housing;
•    geriatric research; and
•    bursaries and other forms of post secondary educational assistance for under-privileged youth.

 This is just a sampling of the charitable work offered through BC/Yukon Command's Legion Foundation
