Williams Lake Legion Branch #139 and Cariboo Zone Commander, Vivian MacNeil, organized a very special family presentation of a Spinoza Bear to the Schultz family whose father is battling cancer and in palliative care.
As reported by LeRae Haynes in the Williams Lake News, ten year old Danielle Schultz received a Spinoza “Trauma” Bear as a comfort during these difficult times. In partnership with the Order of the Eastern Star, the Legion sponsors the Spinoza Bear Program. The bear is designed for children suffering trauma and life-changing events. “Losing a parent is a confusing, lonely and heart breaking for a young child and we wanted to do something for Danielle and her family,” commented Vivian MacNeil. At the same Christmas event, the Branch and Zone also presented a $200 cheque to “Borderline”, a local children’s singing group that performs at many community events, including the Legion.
